We at StudentActionNetwork.org wanted to start a project that
would get people involved in the political process. After all, this
is a big year for politics! So, we decided that we would incorporate
our website's messages of humanitarianism and civic responsibility
into our project. The following project will get people involved and
interested in the upcoming elections. Also, the project will serve as
a reminder to everyone involved (including the President) that there
are major humanitarian issues in the world that need to be addressed.
On May 30th, 2009, a copy of the letter below will be given to
the newly elected President of the United States. A petition will
also be given to the President that urges him to sign the letter and
promise to follow it. Digitally sign the petition to support its

Dear Mr. President,
We congratulate you on your recent election as the 44th President of the United States of America. The students, teachers, parents, and supporters of StudentActionNetwork.org have signed a petition and request your approval of the following statement. We hope that you agree to sign this letter in earnest and promise to follow its message.
"Humanitarian issues such as global climate change, the African AIDS crisis, and the genocide in Darfur transcend party lines and deserve action. As President of the United States of America, I promise to work with both political parties, become the leading steward of the Earth, and act on humanitarian issues."
